Today in class we had a very useful conversation exercise: our teacher managed to get some Seattleites to our class so we could interview them about our topic for the final presentation. I think the idea was so great because what she did is to bring us the outside right into our classroom, and that was so useful.
We had the opportunity to interact with different kinds of people, male, female, young, not so young, etc. The exercise consisted in 7 or 8 different stations (desks where the people were waiting in order to be interviewed by us) and we had to gather as much information as we could.
I worked with my Final Presentation team, Moni and Linda, and we got really good information and new ideas to make our project work, in fact, today's interviews changed our vision of Music here in Seattle (which is our main topic).
The interesting thing was that we didn't only talk about our topic, but we talked about everyday's life and different matters regarding Seattle and Mexico. One example of this was when we talked to David, he told us that he enjoyed mexican music, specially Banda, and he talked about a special genre called Narco Corridos, but it was really amusing hearing that here in the US they are called Gangster Banda jaja.
We had a great time, and this opportunity encourages me to have more conversations with native speakers and to really engage with the environment and the context.
